grotty - groff driver for typewriter-like devices

DDDDEEEESSSSCCCCRRRRIIIIPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN
ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy translates the output of GNU ttttrrrrooooffffffff into a form
suitable for typewriter-like devices. Normally ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy
should invoked by using the ggggrrrrooooffffffff command with a ----TTTTaaaasssscccciiiiiiii or
----TTTTllllaaaattttiiiinnnn1111 option. If no files are given, ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy will read
the standard input. A filename of ---- will also cause ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy
to read the standard input. Output is written to the
standard output.
Normally ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy prints a bold character _c using the sequence
`_c BACKSPACE _c' and a italic character _c by the sequence `____
BACKSPACE _c'. These sequences can be displayed on a
terminal by piping through uuuullll(1). Pagers such as mmmmoooorrrreeee(1) or
lllleeeessssssss(1) are also able to display these sequences. Use
either ----BBBB or ----UUUU when piping into lllleeeessssssss(1); use ----bbbb when piping
into mmmmoooorrrreeee(1). There is no need to filter the output through
ccccoooollll(1) since ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy never outputs reverse line feeds.
The font description file may contain a command
iiiinnnntttteeeerrrrnnnnaaaallllnnnnaaaammmmeeee _n
where _n is a decimal integer. If the 01 bit in _n is set,
then the font will be treated as an italic font; if the 02
bit is set, then it will be treated as a bold font. The
code field in the font description field gives the code
which will be used to output the character. This code can
also be used in the \\\\NNNN escape sequence in ttttrrrrooooffffffff.
OOOOPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNNSSSS
----FFFF_d_i_r
Search the directory _d_i_r////ddddeeeevvvv_n_a_m_e for font and device
description files; _n_a_m_e is the name of the device,
usually aaaasssscccciiiiiiii or llllaaaattttiiiinnnn1111.
----hhhh Use horizontal tabs in the output. Tabs are assumed to
be set every 8 columns.
----ffff Use form feeds in the output. A form feed will be
output at the end of each page that has no output on
its last line.
----bbbb Suppress the use of overstriking for bold characters.
----uuuu Suppress the use of underlining for italic characters.

----BBBB Use only overstriking for bold-italic characters.
----UUUU Use only underlining for bold-italic characters.
----oooo Suppress overstriking (other than for bold or
underlined characters).
----dddd Ignore all \\\\DDDD commands. Without this ggggrrrroooottttttttyyyy will
render \\\\DDDD''''llll............'''' commands that have at least at least
one zero argument (and so are either horizontal or
vertical) using ----, |||| and ++++ characters.
----vvvv Print the version number.
